Finding Love on a Holiday!

The holidays brought my attention to my room full of books and DVD’s. Like what I had been doing every time of year, I was trying to put some order to its ever chaotic state.

I saw a DVD of a film titled Love Actually. Very timely I thought, for it is about Christmas. I have watched it before but decided to watch it again. I am not a film critic so I try to avoid discussing films. But I liked this one very much. Very much indeed.

It’s pretty much like one my all-time favorite movies, Crash. I love Crash for its LA-ish plot and how it shows how everyone, despite varying backgrounds and race, is inter-connected.

But I am not here to discuss that movie but rather, the one I recently watched, Love Actually. It has that feel-good vibe present in most Hugh Grant movies. Made me think of how easy it is to produce a good movie. All you need is a good plot, a good storyline, and a set of skilled actors. Of course, moviemaking isn’t that simple.

It started and ended on an airport. It surely made me think about my previous post about airports. I think I wrote it in my melancholic self. Watching this movie again, made me realize that I was being that glass-half-empty kind of guy. I was looking at it the wrong way. And I see it now.

This movie had shown me that despite my experiences with airports that were full of sad goodbyes, if I look closely, I could actually find cheers, bliss, laughter, hope. The scene is full of cheery people anxiously waiting for their reunification with friends, with families, with loved ones. Using the same scene, I could re-enact a future happy ending when I will finally be reunited with my own family for good.

And despite the complicity of characters in this movie and how intricate the web of how the characters were inter-connected, it is actually simple… our need for love on Christmastime. That is what it is all about. And this coming year, I wish for everyone to find theirs as well.

And to save time on bloghopping to greet my newfound online friends, I am putting everybody's link here. I don't think anybody will shot this blog down. This "link farm" isn't big enough as compared to the one you see these days. And if in fact they shut me down......

Entrecard : The New Blogcraze

I first heard about this new stuff called Entrecard from an article posted by my new e-buddy Evilwoobie. I yawned. I am not really into networking a lot. I just wanted to post some articles. Not really into moneymaking my blog.

I guess at an early start, I got used to the idea of so much marketing schemes and raffles and stuff that I probably don’t care anymore. Besides, the mechanics, it seems to me at that time, was too "complicated".

The next time Woobie and I had a chance to chat, she asked me why I still haven’t signed up yet. I got caught offguard. Being a brilliantly fine fellow, this time, I obliged. I thought, if anybody as smart as Woobie would fall into this, then it definitely is worth a try. I promised her I would sign up that very same day. So, I went to the site and read the “complicated” mechanics. It was so simple. I guess I was just being a snob when I was reading it the first time.

As it turns out, not only was it really a traffic generator, I can use it to buy adspace at virtually no cost. All I need is to earn some credits to pay for it. Now who wouldn’t want a free way to advertise. Hell I can even buy an ad from the big boys like John Chow and Shoemoney.

Still, I am thankful for Woobie for her efforts marketing my blogs to all forums that she can find. And for this Entrecard. Rest assured Woobie that you will be one of the firsts that I will feature in this blog in the coming year.

(I snatched woobie's header and put it here.)

And as I have said in my previous post, I am now seriously contemplating quitting my other job to become a serious blogger. I was just trying to find a way to make sure that those money-making ads stay on the sidebars and not on my articles.

And for people who might ask, this is not a paid blog post.

Hiatus? Not Really

Am not. Was just a little quiet for about a month now. Aside from work, I kept myself busy with my other blogs.

It was funny in a way. I started blogging to start a new habit, to make sure I don’t get “rusty”. But as is always the case, when a new idea comes to mind, a dozen more start racing through my brain. Like a minute jolt of electric shock, they kept traveling trough my brain cells like zapping through an infinite fiber optic cable. Yep, that fast.

It was so fast it usually nudges me out of balance.

Late September this year when I started my blogging existence. It was a month after when I had other bloggers started to notice the presence of the man named BURAOT. While some find in the guy their typical funny yuppie through Anak ni Kulapo, some also found the deeper and more serious BURAOT through the birth of his blog The Antisocial, a site that mainly discusses socio-political life in his country of birth relative to the world at large.

The Antisocial gave birth to a Tagalog-inspired spin-off with the blog Ibangon ang Bayan, this time using wordpress as platform and clearly discussing and cussing traditional politics. It led to another site, the Batcave on multiply that would be a more personal one. It would provide more details to the personality of the author, for those who are still wondering.

A lot of bloggers out there are now cashing in on their site’s traffic. I however, am still studying bits and pieces of webpage developing and also years away from making a nickel out of it. Since I have several sites that I needed to update regularly they are, quite frankly, consuming my time. I am now entertaining the idea of quitting one job to concentrate on these newfound habits.

There are several upsides though. I met several people that I am happy to be acquainted with. Since it is almost the end of the year, I would like to introduce them here in this blog on my next entry.

You could think of it as my personal review of people and their sites that I had come across in my early blogging career. It would also help me give back the support and traffic that they were driving to my sites.

Cheers!
